“You can be free. You can live and work anywhere in the world, be independent from routine and not answer to anybody” - says Dr Alexandra Elder in his book “Come into My Trading Room”.
Sounds good doesn’t it? Does it also sound too good to be true? I have yet to reach the stage of an full-time independent retail trader, so I can’t really comment. There are 2 main groups of us out here. One group works for other people and the other works for themselves.
When one works for other people, we are drawing salary every month. Along with the salary comes possible displeasures with work processes, environment, people etc Especially as an engineer (that’s what I am now!). Most engineers work on tight project deadlines and it is not uncommon to hear stories of stay throughout the night (for a few weeks even) to rush to complete a project. It is still fine if one has a good boss, was given the recognition and was commensurated with the right amount of salary. But I often hear workers with one complaint or the other. Things get worse when one is promoted and has subordinates. Now besides the superior, one has to learn how to manage the subordinates. That is another topic by itself!
So if one is his own boss, would things be better? Certainly not! Bosses work even longer hours (good ones that is =)). Their superiors are their suppliers and customers. Their subordinates are their workers. Do you see the similarity?
Why Options then? My teacher, Dr Clemen Chiang, says: “If you have money, you will play stocks. It is much simpler. We play Options because we have little money to start with…”. The “little money” refers to us of course. He is a millionaire =)
For me, it is really fated. I got acquainted with Options two year back. I’ve got no friends or relatives who are into Options Trading, or stocks trading for that matter. My wife and I were looking at futures initially. While doing research on the internet, I read Options are a safer form of investment as compared to futures. Main because, the loss is limited for Options while for futures, one invests using a margin account and there is really no lower bound for what one can lose per trade. Though both Options and futures have call and put plays. I thought Options will be a good start for someone like without prior investment experience. Then, by chance, I saw Dr Clemen giving testimonial to a Adam Khoo’s course in an introductory video during a seminar conducted by Adam Khoo. His title of “Chief Options Strategist” caught my eye and that’s how I found Freely Business School. The love for Options Trading developed from there.
