The answer is a Firefox-Delicious combo. Delicious is a popular social bookmarking website. Well, I use it more as a means for storing my favourite links online so that I can access them from anywhere. Besides being able to pull out my favourite links at internet kiosks, I can also manage my bookmarks centrally, be it from my home PC or from my office PC. Gone were the days when I need to export, import or backup my bookmarks when I switch between PCs and when I do a re-installation of my PC. So now, I still get to keep my bookmarks even if my PC has crashed.
Firefox is the second most popular web browser in the world (after Internet Explorer) . One of the reasons for its popularity is the availability of the many useful add-ons that are FREE. One of this free add-on allows my bookmarks at Delicious to be displayed as if it is part of the toolbar in my Firefox.Let me provide a simple guide to set this up:
- Sign up for an online account at Delicious. It’s free.
- Install the Delicious plugin for Firefox. There are a couple of versions of Firefox add-ons for Delicious available. This is the one that allows the bookmarks to appear as a Firefox toolbar. Just click the “Install Now” button within your Firefox web browser and you are ready!

To add a new bookmark to Delicious, simply click on the new “TAG” icon on your Firefox navigation toolbar.

Decide which tags you wish to tag the website to. Click “Save” to complete. The tags will influence how your bookmarks are going to appear in the Firefox toolbar later.
To display the Delicious toolbar in Firefox, right-click on the menu bar and check “del.icio.us Toolbar”.

Next, to add tags to your Delicious toolbar, right-click on the Delicious toolbar and select “Manage Favorite Tags”.

For example, let’s add a tag call “amc”. Enter the tag name in the text field and click the “Add Tag” button. Note that you must have bookmarks saved under the “amc” tag before you can add it to the toolbar.

After which, the “amc” tag and the bookmarks tagged under it will appear in my Firefox toolbar.

Now, here comes another BIG time saver!
Notice the “Open in Tabs” selection? It is available for every tag. What this will do is to open ALL the bookmarks for the tag in dfferent tabs in one browser window, with a single click. For instance, the websites in “amc” are those that I will usually read after market close. With a single click, all the websites will be opened and I just have to switch between the tabs to read them. Really a big time saver for me. Try it out yourself!
