Following my last review on FX1 Academy, this article introduces Freely Business School and its trademark Live Freely Seminar.

About Freely Business School:

• A school headquartered in Singapore that teaches Options Trading
• Started in 2003
• CEO, founder and Chief Options Strategist is Dr Clemen Chiang. I have written about his outstanding marketing flair previously
• How did he learn Options Trading? He is self-taught. He went on to earn a PhD with Preston University with a thesis titled: “Options Trading As An Income Strategy For Financial Freedom – An Action Research Approach” and the idea for his seminar came from the thesis, we were told. More about the man himself can be found here.
• Presence in Singapre, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan and Thailand
• At the time of this article, he already has 59 intakes. Each intake is around 100 students. So he has roughly 5,900 students under his belt.

Because I attended the Live Freely Seminar in Mar 2006 (Freely36), I could only write about the course that I attended. The course content has changed a lot since my time, as I found out from some of my blog readers. Hope any one from the more recent classes can contribute the differences between their course and mine

About the Live Freely Seminar (Mar 2006):

• Teaches Options basics (what is call, put, time decay etc). No Greeks. Dr Clemen’s notion is that it is the stock price that drives the Options price, so no use learning too much about how Options are priced.
• Focus on US equity Options
• Teaches 3 flagship strategies (heard now only left 2) namely, Freely Dynamic Strategy, Freely Powerful Strategy and Freely Most Powerful Strategy on Planet Earth!
• Freely Dynamic Strategy features a 12-step stock selection process. Subsequently, deploys a credit spread (bull put/bear call). If successful, collects profits once every month (after credit spread expires). Suppose to have higher chances of winning but smaller win each time.
• Freely Power Strategy rides on momentum of stock price after a strong gap and buys straight call/put Options.
• Freely Most Powerful Strategy on Planet Earth is the strategy that most students end up playing. Focus is on companies stock prices that gaps after earnings announcement. There is a 4-5 step analysis process to determine which companies to play and which direction will the stock price gap. Subsequently, involves buying straight call/put Options before market close and take profits after market opens the next day. I clocked my personal best of 700% profit in a single trade before. This means invest $100 get $800 back.
• My course spans over 4 days plus 1 day Freely mentorship program. Starts on a Saturday. 2 full days on Saturday and Sunday (around 9 am to 10 pm) and 2 evenings (around 7 pm to 10 pm) on Monday and Tuesday. Freely mentorship program starts around 7 pm to 2-3 am the next morning. This I have got to give it to the man. Although it was stated that the course will end at 10 pm, for the 4 days, he stretched it to the wee hours of the morning (like 2-3 am). We felt the commitment, passion, sincerity and perseverance of the man there and then.
• The Freely mentorship program focuses on the Freely Dynamic Strategy and usage of the brokerage system.
• It was recommended that we use either optionsXpress or Interactive Brokers or both as our trading platform.
• After course support came in the form of Yahoo! Group (now Google Group) that was set up for every cohort of students. This is free.
• Course bonus #1: Free Briefing Platinum subscription for a year (he got a special rate for Freely students at SGD 374.50 per year thereafter)
• Course bonus #2: Pay SGD200+ (exact figure cannot remember) for 2 year membership to Freely Forum that comes with 4 free seating of Graduates Gathering. Freely Forum is the avenue where we can sought help and learn from the kind and generous senior students. Graduates Gatherings and the Wealth Management Forum are priced at SGD84 per seating currently.
• There is money back guarantee! During 5-day duration of the course, anyone wants to pull out, he promised full money back.
• As Freely graduates, we are also entitled to:
  • Freely Trade-Thru-the-Nite Sessions (priced at SGD157.50 per seating). Focus on the Freely Powerful Strategy and the Freely Most Powerful Strategy on Planet Earth.
  • Live Bali Trading (not available during my time, at a few thousand SGD per seating)
  • Options Trading Championships. Held once a year. Priced at SGD200+ per participant.
  • Diploma in Options Trading. Don’t have much details about this.
  • During my time, other mentorship classes were also set up, taught by some of Dr Clemen’s best students and overseen by Dr Clemen himself. At various pricing.

As with all my trading course reviews, I shall ceased to send out my personal email comments as the response is overwhelming and is too much for me to handle. Let’s focus on trading and make more money!!!

I also learnt about the Law of Attraction recently. Good attracts better, so let’s focus on the more positive things and move on!
