Found not so good comments on FX1, not much review for Terraseeds & GCM…

I found GCM quite interesting, but cannot find actual review on them…wonder anybody attend GCM course before?

Hi Jmot and all, I’ve just signed up for JF Lennon’s 2 days 1 night Advanced Trader’s Mastery course this end April 09 and hope I can share further with you guys here after that. To be honest i thought the fee is quite ex around SGD2,888. Thereafter, there’ll be reviews every Friday on your trading report with the trainers for 6 months. However, I won’t be judgmental for now till I attended the trainings.

I’m rather skeptical and mindful of investment training schools nowadays. So many emerging with or without credentials. Of course they can be really good with presentations during preview but it is the real thing after you sign up where u start to realise the quality. I might be too late to redraw after that even if u think u aren’t benefiting much from it. * They can be really smart drafting their terms and agreements so do be very careful! I was not.

I’m a totally beginner in Forex deriving my knowledge via the websites but these schools usually claim that that is not a problem though I’m skeptical.

Vinann, I’ve mentioned about the cost. For software, yes u need to download the demo and trade for at least 3 to 6 months before trading with real money. I’m sure there’ll be more cost incur if you want soemthing more. It’s marketing gimmick/strategy to me. They won’t offer u everything at one go. At times u may realised that you need item B after purchasing item B and then item C and D etc…

Jmot, have u have anything on JF Lennon to share here? Thanks!

hi Allan, i have limited info on JFL cos it is a fairly new kid on the block. what i know is:

- it is a fairly new course provider.
- could it be a spin-off from FX1? JFL Trainer Benjamin Song used to be FX1’s CEO. or is a FX1 subsidiary?
- teaches a strategy based on price action that doesn’t use indicators

the 6 month support resonates with that from FX1 alright (also 6 months). from the JFL website, it seems like they are also recruiting trainers. meaning they are like FX1 in another way - course is not taught by just 1 person but by many trainers. the strategy that they teach also resonates with FX Clinic - price action without indicators. mmm, do they have “business partners” too?

Hi jmot, JFL is indeed a new training school but I wasn’t sure if Benjamin Song was the ex CEO of FX1. They’re selling themselves partly based on the credentials of their board of advisors including Michael Tay and Benjamin Song. It was not mentioned if they have partnership with others but it seems like they’re trying to build their in house training resources.

Just completed the JFL 2 days 1 night course. Fair and honest, I’m glad it was not a disappointing one for me. Being aware I’m totally new to FOREX, it is still a good starting point though I was unable to grasp a handful of the basic strategies taught. Nevertheless, I will strive to learn it with the community and networks available after the course.

The main speaker did quite a good facilitation and teaching except he was rather fast at certain points. Maybe he assumed the class knows the subject at basic level but a few classmates thought certain explanations could be good to slow down. A few including me have really near to zero background.

I am quite impressed with their research, trainers and vision they hold, at the end of the day. Most interestingly, the main speaker knows about my comments earlier with Jmot in this blog forum which we discussed a little about JFL before I attended the course. I was rather surprised that he brought up my forum discussion subject to the whole class. Maybe he reads this forum or heard from someone and probably thought I was trying to spy or check out on JFL secretly. Last, he mentioned he didn’t care about all these discussions in the forum anyway.

Hmm.. I must say he probably thinks I’m trying to defame JFL online with my discussion with Jmot. On the other hand, i see forums in this information age as a good tool to interact with people globally if we use it appropriately. Often, we want to hear reviews from others in the community about certain things we’re unsure. I don’t mean we based our believes and derive conclusions immediately purely from the reviews we read online, but at least we can hear from someone. This is not judgment point for me yet personally.

If I really wish to check out a company, first of all i wouldn’t announced it online to the public to let the cat out of the bag. Secondly, I’m not a millionaire yet who can spend few thousand dollars every month checking out forex schools. My bottomline is to LEARN FOREX FROM A GENUINE GOOD TRAINING SCHOOL, which is really rare nowadays.. sadly. Most schools put profit before students and we know they exist everywhere.

I witness a few companies/schools claiming to be the best but either closed down or re-brand to another company in less than 5 yrs due to management conflicts, cheating cases and others. Why is that so? Their initial marketing techniques and vision to recruit students was fabulous and got student’s trusts. Why can’t they sustain that well? Some keep luring to get students pay more and more with different programme packages even before the poor students actually learn to make $. So the students will keep running in the rat race and these schools getting richer.

JFL concluded their sessions well. Their vision and contributions to society are remarkable feats. I will be a really proud student and glad if it continues running and expanding in the next 5 to 10 years or even longer. If the school is genuine and determine to uphold its vision, nothing in the forum or scams anyway can shaken its strong roots. Don’t let the students down. Outshine the others!

Hi Jmot and all,

I’m back again to your blog after 6 mths of disappearance :P I have been trying to learn TA on my own and it has been fascinating. Recently, I have an ex-colleague who trades FX on her own and she has attended Clarence Chee (T3B - FX) and she said its v v good. Although i believe her, I will like to seek more comments on this T3B FX seminar.

To continue on Vivann link on T3B FX seminar,

(1) Is it a blackbox? I.e. I mean do we just follow xx indicator blindly (where we dont even know how this indicator is derived?)
(2) Do we need to buy the software? Or need yearly subscription?
(3) HOw much % of this seminar is done on teaching FX and not sharing personal stories or motivation courses?

Appreciate if those pple who have attended Clarence’s course to comment :) Thanks so much!

I will be attending Clarence Chee preview seminar in June and will share with all of you too :)

Thanks, have a gd weekend!
~Ernest

HiHi Boys and Girls,

I found this website and i’m glad so see good feedback from students. Actually i am a student as well and i went thru the 3 days course and it is up to my expectation. And it is true that we cannot capture every single thing in the 3 day course, so we can learn in more detail during the revision class. The support from JF Lennon team of existing student and staff is magnificient. Everybody is willing to help each other to obtain success in FOREX. I personally went thru this and still going for the Weekly revision classes and weekly group trading together(demo or live).

As what mentioned by Allan, this is an institute with very strong and experience people running it. It has a R&D team to develop strategy and backtesting group to prove the strategy with high % of winning,
but not 100%. And all this information will be taught to students by a very motivated and experienced traders who has the talent in tutoring who is Benjamin himself. The course offered is called “Advanced Traders’ Mastery”.

JF Lennon is offering a FREE FOREX BASIC CLASS where you can learn some basic knowledge. Whoever is interested, Please do give me a call at 012-4352282 and i will register a place for you. This class will be held every tuesday and thursday in Penang and every Weds in KL.

Hope to hear from all the Traders who want to be successful out there.

Thank you.

Hi Allan and Ivan Lim,

It has been at least 6 months after two of you attended the class. I would like to find out how is your progress and feedback. Particularly I am more interested about your result progress - consistency of winning pips per week (as they review your result once a week) over the last 20 weeks if possible.

I’m a full time trader who trades daily and 4 hourly chart only based on Fibonacci Support/Resistance, Stochastic indicator, major patterns such as double top/bottom and major reversal candlesticks such as morning star etc. However, when I talked to the staff in one of the seminar held last Saturday (31Oct09) in Singapore (Suntec Mall), their strategy is only based on 15min chart.

Furthermore, after search the websites, there are very few feedback about JF Lennon. However, there are quite a lot of feedback about one of the director, Benjamin Song who was formally from FX1 which has received a lot of negative feedback (see: http://www.mojostock.com/forums/showthread.php?p=203633 and http://www.forexdna.com/education_revInfo.php?id=6).

It is a relatively a small investment for me (or to anyone else) to attend a class of S$3,888 if the strategy works. Imagine we’ve to spend few tens of thousands or even hundred thousand to pursuit a degree course over 3-4 years, after graduating we may not be able to find a good job. Thus it is a times and efforts commitment after learning the 3 days course as one has to spend a lot of times (6-12months or even more) to master the strategy. If the strategy does not work well or the school is not qualified, then not only one will waste S$3,888 but one will also loss 6-12 months times and efforts.

Your feedback will definitely help me (and others) who are looking for “GOOD” education course.

Regards,
Toyogo

Hi Toyogo, it has been almost 6 months since I attended the course. To be honest, I haven’t been doing good with my trading and at a point lose up to USD800 from my USD1500 account. Firstly, the strategies taught seem effective in my demo account but I just reckon that as more and more new students adopt this strategies, it won’t work well anymore. Market is also changing constantly due to external factors such as the country’s economy, investors’ confidence and governments’ intervention etc.

It was very encouraging initially that the trainers are very supportive, patient and constantly guiding us in the review sessions. I must also be fair enough to admit that my money management was very poor, being an amateur trader. I wasn’t consistent with my lot size which eventually put me to a loss of USD700 in one single trade during one of the non farm payroll week. Also as mentioned, the strategies gradually lost their effectiveness as market changes but they do try to update other new ones.

Since you’re a professional trader, I reckon it’ll be more cost effective for u to invest in good books to read such as ‘Trading for a Living’ by Alexander Elder or Kathy Lien’s books. There are many good reads around which the basic strategies taught in class can be found in these books. Of course for a beginner like me, I need to go through an introductory class and buy an expensive lesson for myself.

As I also mentioned in my post before, I’m always mindful of training schools around claiming to be the best or guarantee profits to potential students. It’s always the strong communication that ‘we’ll be one of the best in the years to come’ but such companies eventually break apart, attempt to re-brand into something new or change of management within months. The outcome of these will usually see trainers or people in the management leaving quietly all of a sudden. A typical example here is the key trainer you mentioned who conducted my forex course left the company within 5 months, much to my expectation. A new person with superb trading results came onboard and took over but isn’t really interested to reveal and impart his skills to the students. So what is the point for students to stay on? To see how impressive this legendary trader is but can only drool at the piece of cake and can’t taste it?

I stlll suggest that you do some homework before throwing your hard earned cash to schools. Our pips are hard to come by and you wouldn’t want to pay $2k to $4k going to these schools for basic courses. For a trader of your level, you should be looking for something more advanced.

Hi Toyogo,

if cost is not of concern to you, you may want to drop by at Greeksman website as he is reviewing costly online courses and a Optionetics affiliated FXTE forex course which is very expensive by Singapore standards. Best you post on his board and he will reply you.

Mike
